2nd anniversary: Blooper Compilation

Hello everyone!

Today has been 2 years since HertenHeld has been released.
And since it has been a huge journey with it's ups and downs, I wanted to share some of the development mishaps that have happened throughout the journey.

Day 1 of trying out GameMaker and platforming, surprisingly I was already very happy with this progress the first time.

I had been stuck with collissions for days...I had not expected platforming was that hard.
This was the closest I got before starting over using a tutorial, it felt solid...almost

Eventually the bouncing looked like Samantha was hard on Caffeïne, so the coffee had kinda became an inside joke since then.

As if Solid Collissions weren't enough, platform Collisions were something else

wheeee

Some days felt like just hitting your head against a wall

Don't forget to turn off gravity

Wolf AI...It was the only one that had to act smart and jump over hills, this was surprisingly difficult to do.

I would expect the boss would turn around...oh...there we go

Paper Samantha

I carry the universsse!!!

And that's all to wrap it up, eventually, as the game's engine became more solid, then bizarre bugs are less likely to appear.

Since last fall, I was also back into development to work on a new content update, but it's not at a finished state yet, and I'm not sure when I'm motivated to continue on it, so time will tell when it's done.

But in the meantime, have this new-update blooper by leaving the game alone for too long:

Since this year, I've created a Mastodon account to talk more about Gamedev and gamedev progress,
so feel free to visit it and drop a follow if you like my content:

That's all for now, thanks for checking out!
